Time's End

Pure Metal

1986

Hoo, ya! Mid-80s heavy metal the way it was intended: hook-laden power chord riffing, Judas Priest-esq vocals, dark lyrical themes. Whereas Stryper had a glam metal approach, Saint maintained the gritty heavy metal sound that got me into the genre in the first place.

Now, you may be saying to yourself, "Self, I got the EP that Saint put out last year, and they sound nothing like this 'Judas Priest' yon NecRoSarX speaks of." That's because 'Time's End' was released in 1986, silly. Songs like "In The Night", "Island Prisoner", the classics "Time's End" and "Primed And Ready", not to mention "Phantom Of The Galaxy" and "Steel Killer" come from the old, old school metal. And the major lyrical source seems to come from an even older outlet- the Bible. Well, duh. Perhaps because the main inspiration is Bible-based is what resulted in the rather dark imagery found on this album. If you can snag this one either on vinyl (the format I have it on), cassette (I don't think they even made a version on CD at that time), or the two-CD set collection of their three early releases (even that's hard to come by), you've got yourself a decent chunk of Christian metal history there, pal. . .
